Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • For topping: 2 tbsp granulated sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter, brown sugar, and sugar until light. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Whisk flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, cinnamon, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually stir dry ingredients into wet until just combined. Fold in sliced apples.
  5. Press dough evenly into the pan and smooth the top.
  6. Mix cinnamon and sugar for topping and sprinkle over the dough.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until edges are golden and center is set.
  8. Cool completely before slicing into bars.
