Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg yolk (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. Mix warm water, yeast, and 1 tsp sugar. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Add eggs, oil, remaining sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually stir in flour until a dough forms.
  4. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8–10 minutes.
  5. Let dough rise in an oiled bowl, covered, for 1 to 1.5 hours.
  6. Divide and braid the dough. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
  8. Brush with egg yolk wash before baking.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes or until golden and hollow sounding.
