Description

Make the best Chinese beef and broccoli at home with this easy and quick stir-fry recipe! Healthy simple and so delicious every time!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water or beef broth
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef thinly against the grain and toss it with soy sauce and cornstarch in a bowl. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, brown sugar, water, and sesame oil. Set aside.
  3. Heat a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat with a bit of oil. Sear the beef in batches for 1–2 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add broccoli to the same pan with a splash of water. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until crisp-tender.
  5. Return the beef to the pan. Pour in the sauce and toss everything together. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Turn off the heat, drizzle sesame oil, and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Slice the beef thin for tenderness.
  • Don’t overcook the broccoli.
  • Double the sauce for a saucier dish.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels.
