Ingredients

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line or grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, pumpkin pie spice, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mix pumpkin puree, brown sugar, eggs, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Fold in the dry ingredients until just combined, then add chocolate chips.
  5. Pour batter into the pan and sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
  6. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
