Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup pumpkin purée
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix pumpkin purée, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Combine with dry ingredients.
- Pour batter into the prepared dish and spread evenly.
- Mix brown sugar and pecans. Sprinkle over the batter without mixing in.
- Pour hot water evenly over the top without stirring.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes until the top is golden and edges bubble.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
