Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 and 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for rolling)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until dough forms.
  6. Combine cinnamon and sugar for coating in a small bowl.
  7. Roll dough into balls and coat each in cinnamon sugar.
  8. Place on baking sheet and bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are set.
  9. Cool for 5 minutes on pan, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Chilling dough slightly helps with less spreading.
  • Don’t overbake to keep the centers soft and chewy.
