Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. In a skillet, cook apples with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch for 5–7 minutes. Cool.
  3. Roll out puff pastry and place on baking sheet. Cut diagonal strips along the sides, leaving center intact.
  4. Place apple filling in the center and braid the strips over the filling. Form into a ring and seal ends.
  5. Brush with egg wash and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and puffed.
  6. Whisk powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to make glaze. Drizzle over warm kringle.
  7. Let glaze set, then slice and serve.
